New energy storage projects are coming on line at a rapidly increasing rate, and analysts project this trend to continue well into the future. But as new projects are planned, developers must consider what happens at the end of systems’ useful lives. In this webinar, the Energy Storage Association will host a discussion of key considerations for project decommissioning from a logistical and legal standpoint, as well as key considerations for the recycling and disposal of batteries and related equipment. We will also hear about new Department of Energy-supported programs to foster innovation in recycling, and what that will mean for ensuring future domestic supplies of the materials needed for new energy storage systems in the future.

In this webinar, participants will learn:

  • What project developers and owners need to consider as they plan for their projects’ decommissioning from logistical and legal standpoints.
  • How varying energy storage types and recycling methods differ in regards to environmental impact and financial sense.
  • What the future holds for innovation related to energy storage recycling and reuse.

  • David Mauer, Vice President for Sales and Service, Renewance
  • Rebecca Ciez, Postdoctoral Fellow, Princeton University
  • Jeff Spangenberger, Materials Recycling Group Leader, Argonne National Laboratory
