ESA CEO Statement on Release of 2019 U.S. Energy and Employment Report

With today’s release of the 2019 U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER), we are pleased to see evidence of what we already know to be true:  an investment in the energy storage industry and an increase in deployments translates into direct job growth here in the United States. According to the most recent release of the U.S. Energy Storage Monitor Report, the U.S. storage market nearly doubled in 2018 and is expected to double again in 2019. This trend continues to translate into real employment opportunities in the U.S., as highlighted in today’s USEER, which unveiled an almost 18 percent increase in battery energy storage jobs in 2018 – the highest growth rate across any technology in the entire energy sector – along with a 14 percent increase in storage jobs overall.  ESA and our member companies know that energy storage enables a more resilient, efficient, sustainable and affordable electricity grid, and we are working every day to support U.S.-based job growth.
