Energy Storage Association Elects 2019-20 Board of Directors
New board members represent an array of storage companies, technologies

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 9, 2019 –The U.S. Energy Storage Association (ESA), the national trade association for the American energy storage industry, announced today the results of its board and officer elections. Each year, ESA holds open elections among its members, and the resulting Board of Directors votes to select executive committee officers.

The 2019-2020 ballot included nine candidates for seven open board positions. Voting took place at the Meeting of the Members during the ESA’s 2019 Annual Energy Storage Conference & Expo in Phoenix. 

Directors who were re-elected or elected for the first time are:

  • Julie Blunden, EVgo
  • Jacquie DeRosa, Ameresco
  • Kiran Kumaraswamy, Fluence
  • Benjamin Lowe, Enovation Partners
  • Kate McKeever, Enel Green Power North America
  • Peter Muhoro, National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC)
  • Polly Shaw, Stem, Inc.

Directors whose ESA terms are ongoing:

  • Troy Miller, GE Renewable Energy
  • John D. Hewa, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative
  • Craig R. Horne, Ph.D., Swinerton Renewable Energy 
  • Charles Post, Pacific Gas and Electric Company
  • Zachary Kuznar, Ph.D, Duke Energy
  • Juliana Mandell, ENGIE Storage

“We are excited to welcome this diverse group of companies from across the storage value chain and the country to our board,” said Kelly Speakes-Backman, CEO of ESA. “Each member brings a unique and valuable perspective to our leadership. They will allow us to continue expanding ESA’s influence and the rapid growth of the energy storage market.”

The new board on May 2 elected officers for the 2019-2020 cycle. As vice chair for 2018-2019, Troy Miller, GE Renewable Energy, became Board Chair, and former Chair Craig R. Horne, Ph.D., Swinerton Renewable Energy, became Immediate Past Chair. Each officer elected will serve a one-year term.
