Austin Energy Request for Information (RFI) for the Storage of Energy

Austin Energy is seeking information from companies qualified and experienced in the development, operation and delivery of energy from commercially-available energy storage technologies to be deployed in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market.

Austin Energy is primarily interested in utility-scale energy storage applications of 10 MW to 170 MW using batteries or compressed air energy storage, but will accept and review information about other types of storage if presented. After the information is collected, Austin Energy will analyze the data and then make a determination as to whether a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued at a subsequent date.

The planned schedule is as follows:

  • Issue RFI: December 30, 2015¬†
  • Deadline for email questions: 3:00 pm CT on February 17, 2016
  • RFI responses due: 3:00 pm CT on March 15, 2016
