ConEdison and Orange & Rockland Seeking Request For Information for Grid-Scale Energy Storage

Posted: February 2, 2016 - 12:36 / RFI / FOA-RFI-RFP

Con Edison, and Orange & Rockland Utilities are seeking energy solution partners who can show them how integrating energy storage on a large scale with their existing power systems can financially benefit their customers, their business, and the partners themselves.

These proposals should also demonstrate how large-scale utility storage can improve company operations, and establish how a singular type of energy storage can offer multiple kinds of value. Examples of how the companies and their customers might benefit include, but are not limited to: increasing revenues or shareholder returns or both, reducing operating costs, reducing peak demand, enhancing power quality, improving reliability, and integrating and optimizing distributed energy resources such as solar power and co-generation.

This Request for Information is the first step in identifying and pre-qualifying contractors who will become partners with them in a grid-scale energy storage demonstration project. Con Edison, and Orange & Rockland will put forth the winning project(s) to New York's Public Service Commission as part of the state's Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) plan for making far-reaching changes in the energy industry.
