Southern California Edison Announces Intention to Procure Distributed Energy Resources at Specific Locations in Solicitation Expected to Launch in Late 2017

Posted: May 12, 2017 - 09:45 / FOA-RFI-RFP
Southern California Edison (“SCE”) is pleased to announce its intention to launch a solicitation Q4 2017 pursuant to California Public Utilities Commission (“CPUC”) Decision (“D.”) 16-12-036. SCE will be seeking the CPUC’s approval to launch this solicitation in an advice letter filing expected to be made in June 2017. SCE expects that it may launch this solicitation in October or November 2017; however, the timing of the solicitation will depend on when the CPUC approves SCE’s advice letter filing and SCE will launch only after approval has been granted. Per D.16-12-036 SCE is to identify locations “where the deployment of distributed energy resources on the system would displace or defer the need for capital expenditures on traditional distribution infrastructure”.

SCE has identified the following substations and circuits within SCE’s service territory where it is likely a potential solicitation will seek Distributed Energy Resources (“DERs”):

Bassett Project:
- Proctor 66/12 substation located in City of Industry

Farrell Project:
- Desert Outpost 33/12 substation located in Cathedral City
- Eisenhower 115/12 substation located in Palm Springs

Newbury Project:
- Intrepid 16 kV, Hooligan 16 kV and Belpac 16 kV circuits located in Thousand Oaks southwest of the Newbury 66/16 kV substation

SCE provides this notification for informational purposes only, and the launching of any solicitation, which may or may not include the locations listed above, or acceptance of any offer is in SCE’s sole discretion.

Should SCE move forward with the solicitation, more information will be provided at a later date, please do not respond to this email.

Sincerely,
SCE Energy Procurement Team
