ESA Calls for Greater Integration of Distribution Planning in Washington State’s IRP Process

ESA will submit comments today in response to the Notice of Opportunity to File Written Comments that was requested by the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission in UE-190698 on November 7, 2019 regarding the state’s Draft Rules on Integrated Resource Planning (IRP). In our comments, ESA calls for the current Draft Rules to better integrate the distribution resource planning process into the IRP timeline. ESA also reiterates the need for integrating the key reforms outlined in the 2017 Policy Statement to better incorporate consideration of energy storage in utility IRPs.
