ESA Provides Comments in Support of DOE Energy Storage Grand Challenge
In response to the Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Storage Grand Challenge draft roadmap and associated Request for Information, ESA submitted broadly supportive comments outlining high-level considerations to ensure that the Grand Challenge meets industry needs. Specifically, ESA recommended that DOE’s Grand Challenge emphasize technology demonstration and scale-up, focus investments on achieving longer duration at lower cost, and establish a Federal Advisory Committee for energy storage activities at DOE, among other items. In addition, ESA provided a series of recommendations across the tracks of Technology Development, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, Policy and Valuation, and Workforce Development that are suited to the roles and capabilities of DOE’s program offices.
