ESA Statement on House Ways & Means Markup and Storage ITC
“The U.S. Energy Storage Association applauds the sustained progress of the House budget reconciliation process. Policymakers in Washington have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to take meaningful action on climate change. On behalf of our member organizations, ESA commends the House Ways & Means Committee for rising to meet this challenge and including investment tax credits for energy storage, which will support decarbonization, resilience and job creation simultaneously.
In addition, ESA commends the Ways & Means Committee for enabling businesses to elect direct payment of tax credits, which will eliminate needless financial hoop-jumping so that developers can deploy storage and other clean energy technologies at the scale and pace needed to meet President Biden’s goal to decarbonize the power system by 2035.
ESA looks forward to working with leadership in Congress to ensure that important efforts to promote labor standards and domestic industry formation included in budget reconciliation are designed to support the aggressive pace of deployment for storage and clean energy that this bill aims to achieve.”
