ESA Statement on Illinois Energy Storage Bill

“Illinois joins the myriad of states committing to a clean energy future—and energy storage will be essential to getting the job done,” said interim U.S. Energy Storage Association CEO Jason Burwen. “As one of the largest states to enact measures to accelerate energy storage growth, Illinois is demonstrating that the task of decarbonization is a central reason why the 2020s will be known as the Storage Decade. We thank Governor Pritzker for outlining his principles for a clean & renewable Illinois economy a year ago to kick off this process, and we thank leaders in the Illinois General Assembly for passing SB 2408 today. The storage industry is eager to build on this important work by engaging with the Illinois Commerce Commission to develop a long-term foundation for energy storage market growth.”
