ESA Statement on President Biden’s Joint Address to Congress

“President Biden said when he thinks about climate, he thinks about clean energy jobs–and that’s absolutely right,” said U.S. Energy Storage Association Interim CEO Jason Burwen. “In his joint address, President Biden made the case specifically to focus on battery manufacturing in the U.S. to drive job creation and push us toward a clean energy economy. This aligns with ESA’s prior recommendations to Congress and the Administration calling for promoting a robust domestic supply chain. The deployment of battery energy storage systems and electric vehicles is needed for the U.S. to decarbonize the power and transportation sectors of the economy while making infrastructure more resilient. Complementing investment in new manufacturing facilities with policies, like an investment tax credit for energy storage systems, to spur greater U.S. demand will create the jobs and economic growth we need while meeting the competition for global storage industry leadership.”
